Prices include a compact car. During checkout you will have the ability to upgrade to a full-size car or a small SUV for an additional charge.

Upgrade your rail experience from Fairbanks to Denali for $100 per person. The standard tour features Alaska Railroad’s Adventure Class for this rail component of the tour. When you choose the upgrade, you will travel aboard Alaska Railroad's GoldStar service instead. Adventure Class railcars do not feature a dome and meals are available for purchase. GoldStar service is aboard Alaska Railroad’s domed railcars and breakfast aboard the train is included.
With the standard option, rail travel from Denali to Anchorage is aboard our own luxury, glass-domed rail service (meals not included, but available for purchase) and the upgrade applies only to the portion of the trip from Fairbanks to Denali.
Unless noted, tour is not escorted and does not include meals, sightseeing or home city air.
Day 1: Anchorage
We will transfer you from the Anchorage airport to your hotel upon your arrival. This afternoon, explore Anchorage on your own. Take in the historic sites, or simply peruse the shops and museums in the downtown area. Overnight Anchorage hotel.
Day 2: Anchorage – Copper Center (211 miles)
Pick up your rental car from Avis in downtown Anchorage and head out on a scenic roadtrip to Alaska's interior. Your destination is Copper Center in the Copper River Valley, the Gateway to Wrangell St. Elias National Park. Stop for a visit at the National Park Visitors Center to learn more about America's largest national park. Check into the Copper River Princess Wilderness Lodge for a 2-night stay. The views from the Great Room and back patio are absolutely breathtaking.
Day 3: Copper Center - Valdez - Copper Center
This morning, drive two hours to Valdez, where your Columbia Glacier Cruise will depart for a 7 hour journey through Prince William Sound, providing opportunities for viewing the glacier and an abundance of sea life. After the cruise, head back to your lodging for a relaxing night. Overnight Copper River Princess Wilderness Lodge. (L)
Day 4: Copper Center - Fairbanks (277 miles)
This morning, explore more of the area on your own or with an optional excursion. When ready, continue north along the Richardson Highway for your drive to Fairbanks, Alaska’s Golden Heart City. Spend some time this evening exploring the city or take an optional excursion, bookable through the Tour Desk in the hotel. Overnight Fairbanks hotel.
Day 5: Fairbanks
Learn more about the rich gold rush history of Fairbanks on a visit to Gold Dredge 8, where you will pan for gold and learn about modern-day gold mining. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to view the Trans-Alaska Pipeline up close and attend a presentation about its construction and operation. Your adventure continues at Steamboat Landing, where you will enjoy a hearty lunch on the banks of the beautiful Chena River. Spend the afternoon aboard the Riverboat Discovery, an authentic sternwheeler, exploring the Chena and Tanana Rivers. Drop the car off at the Avis airport office and we will transfer you to your Fairbanks hotel. Overnight Fairbanks hotel. (L, S)
Day 6: Fairbanks - Denali
Departs From:Fairbanks, 8:15 AM (Train Departs Fairbanks Depot)
Arrives At:Denali, 12:10 PM (Train Arrives Denali Depot)
This morning, transfer to the rail depot for your Alaska Railroad journey to Denali. We’ll also handle your luggage and transfer you to your Denali area hotel upon arrival near the Park entrance. This evening you’ll have time on your own to explore the Denali area and Visitors Center or choose an optional excursion. Overnight Denali-area hotel.
Day 7: Denali
Venture into Denali National Park on your guided tour in search of moose, caribou, bear, wolves and Dall sheep. Look for glimpses of “The Great One,” Denali along the way. Then, head back to the hotel and relax or take an optional excursion to maximize your time in the area. You may choose the Music of Denali dinner theater for a fun, interactive experience. Day 8: Denali - Anchorage
Departs From:Denali, 9:15 AM (Train Departs Denali Depot)
Arrives At:Anchorage, 5:15 PM (Train Arrives Anchorage Depot)
This morning, transfer to the rail depot and board the train for travel by luxurious railcar to Anchorage — continue to look for wildlife and enjoy views of the peaks of the Alaska Range along the way. Upon arrival in Anchorage, we'll transfer you to your hotel. Explore more of the city or take in a delightful dinner or drinks at your hotel. Overnight Anchorage hotel.
Day 9: Anchorage
We'll transfer you to the airport at the end of your tour.
