Does Princess operate land only Alaska tours?
Yes! A Princess Cruisetour is the best way to see Alaska, but some folks just don’t want to cruise. Princess Rail Tour Packages offer the same Princess wilderness lodge experience on land as our cruisetour itineraries. The largest segment of non-cruise, package travelers to Alaska purchase Alaska Railroad vacations to Denali National Park. Princess land vacations are the perfect way to meet this need as all land packages feature Princess Rail and Denali National Park in addition to our complement of wilderness lodges.
What is the best way to experience wildlife in Alaska?
The highest odds of seeing wildlife up close occur in Denali National Park on the Tundra Wilderness Tour and the Natural History Tour.

The best way to experience a truly unique Alaska lifestyle is on land. The land program offers the greatest exposure to the authentic Alaska lifestyle. They include cities where much of Alaska’s rich historical culture abounds as well as the wilderness where visitors learn about and experience the Native cultures and “bush country” lifestyle.
What are accommodations at Princess Lodges like?
Each Princess lodge is the best property in the region in which they are located. And, while Princess prides itself on constructing “purpose built” Alaska hotels, your client can expect the best of modern conveniences as well. They will experience Alaska’s wilderness from the most comfortable vantage point possible! Our hotels have telephones, televisions, full-service restaurants, espresso bars and high employee-to-guest ratio to ensure quality service.
While every effort is made to provide tour guests with accommodations at Princess properties, hotels of similar quality may be substituted. Some itineraries include overnights in destinations that are not located near a Princess Lodge and in that case, third-party hotels will be used.
We cannot guarantee a specific room type (king bed, two queen beds, etc.) but are happy to pass along all special requests to the hotel if we are notified at least 30 days prior to departure.
What is the activity level like on land vacations?
With Princess land vacations the guest can be as active or relaxed as they choose to be. Each Itinerary offers many exciting sightseeing possibilities allowing everyone to enjoy the best of Alaska. For the client who really wants to experience Alaska, there are many optional Land Excursions (daily side trips and adventures) available. Just like Shore Excursions on the ships, land visitors can choose from many options at each stop along the way. Activities include hiking, rafting, kayaking, jet boat safaris, historical tours, gold panning, salmon fishing, dog-mushing demonstrations and Park Ranger presentations.
