This tour is the best choice for the traveler short on time. Departing from Anchorage, you'll spend one night in the Denali National Park area before ending your vacation in Fairbanks. Scenic travel along the historic Alaska Railroad route provides the opportunity to see mountains, valleys, rivers and any wildlife that may wander by.

When you choose the upgrade, you will travel aboard Alaska Railroad's GoldStar service instead. Adventure Class railcars do not feature a dome and meals are available for purchase. GoldStar service is aboard Alaska Railroad’s domed railcars and dinner aboard the train is included.
With the standard option, rail travel from Anchorage to Denali is aboard our own luxury, glass-domed rail service (meals not included, but available for purchase) and the upgrade option applies only to the portion of the trip from Denali to Fairbanks.

Board your train at the Anchorage depot. Enjoy an incomparable sightseeing experience aboard luxurious domed railcars. Take in the wide-open scenery as you travel through the Matanuska Valley, a farming region known for mammoth vegetables; past colorful towns like Wasilla, billed as the "Home of the Iditarod;" and along scenic rivers like the Susitna, which means "Mother River." By late afternoon you arrive in Denali National Park. Overnight Denali-area hotel.
Day 2: Denali – Fairbanks

Take time this morning for a stop at the Denali Visitor Center where you can hike, hop a shuttle to the park’s sled dog kennel or view an award-winning film. Or for a thrilling adventure, try white-water rafting through the dramatic cliffs of the Nenana River Canyon. Later, board Alaska Railroad's Adventure Class service for your trip north to Fairbanks. Along the way, you’ll pass through tunnels, cross over massive engineering feats like the Mears Memorial Bridge, and see a variety of natural wonders from deep gorges and lowland marshes to dark seams of lignite coal. Your journey ends upon arrival at the Fairbanks rail depot.
3 Days / 2 Nights (Tour 72B)
Travel the Alaska Railroad route and experience unmatched views and impeccable service on this 3-day mini vacation. Experience more time in the Denali National Park area, making sure to take part in the activities and optional excursions that make the area unique. The sights unfold before you as you journey between the mountains of the spectacular Talkeetna and Alaska mountain ranges aboard a luxurious glass-domed railcar.
