Historical Gold Panning Adventure

Back to Mckinley Princess Wilderness Lodge

Historical gold panning adventure / TKA-M

Miners and trappers called this area home through many bitter winters and survived by living off the land. The first gold prospectors of the 1900’s blazed a wagon trail, today known as Petersville Road. As the mining district grew, pioneers called the Michigan 59ers settled along this trail and created a community known as Trapper Creek. Visit the Trapper Creek Museum and learn how to pan for gold, plus, speak with modern-day gold miners and see how gold mining has progressed through the years.
