Famed for its trophy-sized fish, the beautiful upper Kenai River is one of the finest recreational areas in Alask. Experience world-class fishing amidst dazzling mountain scenery onboard a non-motorized drift boat or raft. The upper Kenai River generally opens to fishing around the 12th of June. Most fishing in the early part of the season is for Dolly Varden ( a type of Char), and rainbow trout. This is a catch-and-release fishing experience.
Once the Sockeye Salmon start entering the river in mid July, the trip changes to fishing for Salmon, trout, and Dolly Varden. Spinning gear is typically used. There is a high demand for fishing excursions with a somewhat limited supply.
KENAI LOWER RIVER SPORTFISHING
You won't want to miss this opportunity to angle for giant king salmon (in season from May 15 to July 31) and fighting silver salmon (in season from August 1 to September 20) on the world famous Kenai River.
