BACK ROADS OF COOPER LANDING
A leisurely, three hour drive through scenic Cooper Landing is an ideal way to become better acquainted with the Kenai Peninsula - Alaska's playground. In the words of a syndicated travel writer, "It's one of the most unusual, truly fascinating excursions I've been on!"
Travel along the Kenai River and through Chugach National Forest. Stop in at the quaint Cooper Landing Museum to learn more of the local history. If the salmon are running, stop and watch the fishermen in the world famous "combat fishing zone." Your guide shares the history of the area while you drink in the stunning scenery. This tour is available on alternate days. On your tour you will spend time with the original people of Cooper Landing, members of the Kenaitze Indian Tribe, Dena'ina Athabascans. Step back in time, listen to ancient legends, view artifacts over 500 years old; their story told by the descendents of those who made them.
