Historical Gold Panning Adventure

Historical Gold Panning Adventure

Catch gold fever and experience what it was like to seek your fortune during the Gold Rush days in the wilds of Alaska. The first gold prospectors of the 1900’s blazed a wagon trail, today known as Petersville Road. As the mining district grew, pioneers called the Michigan 59ers settled along this trail and created a community known as Trapper Creek. Your Gold Panning Adventure includes a visit to the Trapper Creek Museum, which is a log cabin built by the Donaldson family, original members of the intrepid Michigan 59ers. After the tour, you’ll meet with modern-day gold miners who’ll share their experiences and demonstrate how gold mining has progressed through the years. After your gold mining expert shows you how gold panning is done, it’s your turn to learn how to expertly work the pan and do some gold prospecting on your own.
