Historic Kennicott & Wrangell-St. Elias Flightseeing
Soar over Wrangell-St. Elias National Park for dazzling views of the Chugach, Wrangell and St. Elias mountain ranges. With over 20,000 square miles of roadless wilderness, flying is the only way to see and experience the wonders of this beautiful park. Your first stop is the frontier town of McCarthy. Over 100 years ago, the copper mines in the area produced over $207 million before they were abandoned. Visiting McCarthy is like stepping back in time; the post office, saloon, and many of the original structures still stand. Take time to tour the McCarthy museum, which houses many artifacts and photographs of the old town. Next, stop for lunch in Kennicott and a tour of the Kennicott copper mine. Along the way, you'll learn about the history of one of the richest copper discoveries in history plus hear amazing stories of how people lived and worked in this remote, mountain wilderness.
