Alaska Rail Tours
Tour Denali National Park by Train
Princess Alaska rail tours combine the thrill of rail travel aboard luxury railcars with one or more nights at either of our two Denali-area wilderness lodges. Each lodge is custom built and strategically located to take full advantage of the natural beauty that Denali National Park has to offer. The popular Anchorage to Denali train gives you the chance to view Alaska’s spectacular vistas, culminating in an unforgettable stay at Denali National Park. Or choose a tour that continues on to Fairbanks, allowing you to explore the historic Gold Rush town. Tours depart from Anchorage, Seward and Fairbanks, and many offer optional extras such as a cruise around the breathtaking Portage Glacier.
Lodges at Denali National Park
Featuring stunning views of the Great One, the Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge is located on the south side of Mt. McKinley, near the historic village of Talkeetna. The lodge was built to maximize the view of Mt. McKinley and take advantage of the recreational opportunities of Denali's south side.
Our second Denali area lodge, the Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge, sits high above the Nenana River just one mile from the gated entry to Denali National Park – the only road access into the Park. These fun–filled Alaska rail tours combine thrilling passage with premier accommodations.
Denali National Park History
Denali was established in 1917 under the name Mt. McKinley National Park. The name has changed but the scenery remains stunningly beautiful. Learn about the people and land of Denali from the Cultural Resources department at the Park. Denali National Park science is also interesting — did you know a dinosaur footprint was found in the Park in 2005? Or that Denali has 650 species of flowering plants?
